WWE SmackDown Results 8/8 - John Cena & Cody Rhodes Appear, MFT Face The Motor City Machine Guns

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "WWE SmackDown" on August 8, 2025, coming to you live from the Centre Bell in Montreal, Quebec, Canada!

Cody Rhodes dethroned John Cena as Undisputed WWE Champion in the main event of WWE SummerSlam Night Two this past Sunday. After Cena showed his respect for Rhodes by handing him the title and raising his hand, he and the WWE Universe were blindsided by the return of the longtime absent Brock Lesnar who delivered an F5 to him. Not only will Rhodes be appearing on tonight's show following his victory, but Cena himself has something to share as he reels from the attack at the hands of Lesnar.

JC Mateo and Talla Tonga of MFT will be joining forces with one another to square off with The Motor City Machine Guns' Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. All four men will surely be looking to redeem themselves after Night Two of SummerSlam, with The Motor City Machine Guns being unable to dethrone The Wyatt Sicks as WWE Tag Team Champions in a TLC Six Pack Match while Mateo and his stablemate Tonga Loa being on the receiving end of a beatdown inside a Steel Cage at the hands of Jacob Fatu after he lost his Steel Cage United States Championship match to MFT leader Solo Sikoa.

We are live! The show kicks off with a video recapping what went down during the main event and the moments that followed during Night Two of SummerSlam.

Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore then greet audiences at home as John Cena makes his way to the ring.

John Cena Calls Out Brock Lesnar

Cena says for the longest time, WWE was afraid to come to Montreal after the Montreal Screwjob because they thought the audience would hijack the show. He says he's never been afraid of that because he's always known that the audience is the show, then says the noise from the live crowd is deafening. He says while some performers might be scared or afraid, one thing the fans have taught him over the years is that even though he might be afraid, he has to face his fears head on and enjoy every moment he gets to share with the fans.

Cena says he's shared many valuable moments with the fans over the decades, then says he's only got 11 more dates after tonight. He says he's starting to understand that, and he gets more afraid each day. He admits to being afraid of Brock Lesnar, then says he doesn't know in what universe he would choose Lesnar as an opponent. He says Lesnar got himself a John Cena problem, then says he's not going down without a fight. He tells Lesnar to come and get some when he wants it, then says the same stands for anyone else in the back as long as they understand he's not going down easy.

Logan Paul's music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. He says whatever version of Cena this is, it's making him sick. He says he respected Cena, but he doesn't know who he is anymore. He says he's been real since day one and whether the fans like it or not, he does WWE better than any other wrestler out there.

Cena calls Paul "the biggest dumbass he's ever seen", but Paul continues to insist that Cena is a lair. Cena offers Paul a match against him, but Paul agrees only if it happens at WWE Clash In Paris.

Drew McIntyre blindsides Cena from behind out of nowhere and beats him down with Paul. Cody Rhodes' music hits and he comes to Cena's aid. Cena accepts Paul's challenge for Clash In Paris, then throws out a challenge to a tag team match pitting Paul and McIntyre against himself and Rhodes.

The Motor City Machine Guns then make their way to the ring. MFT follows.

JC Mateo and Talla Tonga (w/ Solo Sikoa and Tonga Loa) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns

Alex Shelley and Mateo begin the action. The bell rings and the two lock up. Chris Sabin lands a dive on Mateo as Shelley holds the ropes open, then dumps him back in the ring. Sabin and Shelley then deliver kicks to Talla's face off the apron, then double team on Mateo. Talla sends Sabin crashing into the barricade on the outside and stands tall over him as a happy Sikoa watches from a chair next to the announce desk.

Mateo lands a right hand on Shelley's bandaged midsection, but Shelley responds with a jawbreaker to Mateo. Mateo fires off a few strikes on Shelley, then sends him crashing into the corner and tags in Talla.

Talla lands a splash on Shelley in the corner, then delivers an elbow drop to him. Loa fires off a few right hands on Shelley from the outside as the referee has her back turned, and Talla whips him into the corner before he wears him down with a submission hold.

Talla cinches in a Bear Hug on Shelley, but Shelley fires off right hands to escape and tags in Mateo. Mateo whips Shelley into the corner, then tags in Sabin. Sabin lands a crossbody on Mateo, then fires off right hands on him and tries to level him with a series of clotheslines. Mateo stays standing, but Sabin levels him with a Tornado DDT out of the corner and goes for a pin. Mateo kicks out.

Motor City Machine Guns set up for Skull and Bones, but Talla tags in and comes to Mateo's aid. He lands a chokeslam on Sabin for the win.

Winners: MFT

After the match, Sikoa grabs a microphone and says the fans are looking at the soon to be WWE Tag Team Champions in Mateo and Talla Tonga and the most dominant United States Champion ever in himself. Sikoa says he's ready to fight, but no one in the back can fight him and says himself and the rest of MFT are planning on leaving Montreal to celebrate.

Nick Aldis stops MFT from leaving the ring, then informs Sikoa that he has a special guest. Sami Zayn's music hits, and he makes his way to the ring.

Sami Zayn vs. Solo Sikoa (w/ MFT)

The bell rings and the two lock up. Sikoa tries igniting some nostalgia in Zayn by holding up the one symbol, but Zayn sees through Sikoa's ploy and fires off right hands on him. He rains down more right hands on him in the corner, but Sikoa runs over Zayn with a shoulder tackle and rains down some right hands of his own in the corner on Zayn. Zayn returns the favor, and the action spills out of the ring.

MFT surrounds Zayn on the outside, but Zayn lands a back elbow on Sikoa when the pair return to the ring. Sikoa then distracts the referee, and Talla runs over Zayn with a clothesline from the apron. Loa takes a cheap shot at Zayn from the outside while Sikoa distracts the referee again.

Sikoa delivers a Samoan Drop to Zayn, and Mateo lands a cheap shot on Zayn. He sits him on the top rope, then joins him up there and sets up for a Samoan Drop. Zayn counters into a Sunset Flip Powerbomb and goes for a pin, but Sikoa kicks out. Sikoa rains down right hands on Zayn and delivers a headbutt to him, then calls for the Samoan Spike. Zayn kicks Sikoa's thumb away, then lands a second kick on him and follows it up with an Exploder. Loa hops up on the apron and Sikoa tries blindsiding Zayn, but Zayn sees him coming and lands an Exploder to him in the corner. Mateo hops up on the apron as Zayn sets up for the Helluva Kick on Zayn, but Zayn lands a right hand on him. As the referee checks on Mateo, Talla stares down Zayn. Sikoa looks to surprise Zayn with a Samoan Spike, but Zayn sees him coming and rolls up Sikoa for the win.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss then make their way to the ring.

Charlotte Flair Gives Alexa Bliss A Couple Of Early Birthday Presents

Flair says Bliss' birthday falls as their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship celebration, and while she could've made it about her, she decided to share the spotlight with Bliss. She leads Bliss over to a cake that reads "Congratulations Charlotte Flair" in big text and "P.S. Happy Birthday" in smaller font.

Flair then hands Bliss a present, but Bliss insists that Flair opens it out of fear. Flair asks Bliss if she remembers what she gave her four years ago, then hands her the Lily doll she gave her with a "we're not friends" shirt on it. She says she thought Lily should have a tag team partner, then presents a Charlie doll to Bliss before she invites Bliss to hug her.

Chelsea Green's music hits, and she makes her way to the ring along with Alba Fyre and Piper Niven. She says she wants to turn in her Canadian passport with the Montreal crowd cheering for Bliss and Flair, then says she doesn't know what Bliss is doing parading around her dolls when her homecoming should be celebrated in Canada. Flair then tells Bliss that her final gift will be beating Green tonight, and while Green looks for an out of the match, Nick Aldis appears and makes things official.

Charlotte Flair (w/ Alexa Bliss) vs. Chelsea Green (w/ Alba Fyre and Piper Niven)

The bell rings and the two go back and forth with one another. Flair lands a chop on Green, but Green sends Flair crashing into the top turnbuckle face first. Flair delivers a boot to Green through the ropes from the apron, then ascends to the top rope and levels her with a crossbody. Flair rolls up Green, but Green kicks out and sends Flair crashing into the middle turnbuckle face first twice.

Green delivers a sliding forearm to Flair, then wears her down with a shoulder submission and levels her with a back elbow. She wears down Flair with a crossface, but Flair fires off chops on Green and follows it up with a Natural Selection.

Green tells Fyre and Niven to hand her the cake that Flair presented to Bliss, and The Secret Hervice does so. Bliss levels Fyre and Green with a cannonball off the apron. Back in the ring, Green looks to land the Unprettier on Flair on top of the cake. Flair reverses into an Unprettier of her own that sends Green crashing into the cake face first, then cinches in the Figure Eight Leg Lock on her. Green taps out.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre then make their way to the ring. John Cena and Cody Rhodes follow.

Rhodes and Paul begin the action. The bell rings and Rhodes lands a delayed vertical facebuster on Paul. Paul rolls up Rhodes, but Rhodes kicks out and tags in McIntyre. McIntyre fires off chops on Rhodes, but Rhodes delivers a powerslam to McIntyre. McIntyre dumps Rhodes out of the ring, and Paul lands a clothesline to level him on the floor.

McIntyre sends Rhodes crashing into the ring steps on the outside, then dumps him back in the ring and stomps on his hand. Paul tags in and double teams on Rhodes with McIntyre, then continues to wear him down and prevents him from tagging out to Cena. Paul then fires off right hands and left hands on Rhodes' midsection before he tags in McIntyre, who lands a delayed vertical suplex on Rhodes.

Rhodes sends McIntyre crashing into the ring post shoulder first, then tags in Cena. Cena connects with a pair of shoulder blocks on Paul, then delivers a slam to him and follows it up with a Five Knuckle Shuffle. He delivers an Attitude Adjustment to Paul and goes for a pin, but McIntyre breaks the fall.

McIntyre sets up for the Claymore Kick on Cena, but Rhodes comes to Cena's aid and lands a superkick on McIntyre. He clotheslines him out of the ring and follows it up with a Suicide Dive to McIntyre. Inside the ring, Paul low blows Cena to cause the disqualification.

Winners: John Cena and Cody Rhodes (via disqualification)

After the match, Paul and Cena brawl all the way to the back. Rhodes sends McIntyre crashing into the ring steps and the ring post, then clears the announce desk. McIntyre hits Rhodes with his Undisputed WWE Championship belt and stares at it as the referee demands that he return to the ring. He lands a Claymore Kick on Rhodes that sends him crashing through the front panel of the announce desk and berates him as the show goes off the air.
