- Former WWE Superstar David Hart Smith, who now competes in New Japan Pro Wrestling as Davey Boy Smith, Jr., has been unable to wrestle in recent weeks due to peritonsillar abscess, a complication of tonsils. He was admitted to emergency room after having problems breathing due to his airway passages being blocked. It's his third time battling tonsilitis this year.

- The New York Times published an article on Friday on Cesaro Granados, a 39-year-old independent pro wrestler from New York who works as a chimney sweep.

"A promoter gave me the name [Super Astro] because of the way I could fly through the sky,'" said Granados, who competes for the Bronx Wrestling Federation and other independent organizations.

It is noted in the article that his girlfriend objects to the roughly $150 a week he spends on wrestling equipment and practice. Granados's outfit alone cost $500 and he often makes less than $100 per match.
